Things to Do Doodles is the local hangout where all the kiteboarders congregate. Wind Conditions Wind conditions are usually steady. The South Easter can get really strong, and it is not unusual for the South Easter to blow for three weeks non-stop. Time of Year The best time to go is between September and March. During this time the South Easter blows on a almost daily basis. Water Conditions Water ranges from being really flat, to really choppy. Some days the swell gets really big which makes it good for waveriding. On average there's about 4 foot waves. Nearest Kite Shop Cabrinha, Wipika, Takoon and Naish all have shops within walking distance from the beach. Cape Doctor customs and Long Ocean kiteboards are also in the area. Do And Dont Do not leave all your gear in your car. Many kiteboarders' cars have been stolen with their gear in. Thieves are realising that kiteboarding gear is expensive. Other Info Very popular site for kiteboarding in South Africa. But beware, there is a mean shore break and the waves can get pretty big. If you get past the shorebreak there's plenty of flat water to play in. Other things to do is to do a downwind from Sunset Beach (about 3 km's upwind from kitebeach), or to a downwinder from kitebeach to Big Bay (about 1.7 km's away) Beach Conditions Plenty of beach rigging area, and soft sand. There is a tap where you can rinse yourself and your board. Plenty of grass to rig on if you choose not to rig on the beach.
