I really like the image quality offered by GoPro cameras for kite-based photography. They keep innovating new developments to offer even more options to folks shooting while kiting. I have had fogging issues historically on the snow in the mountains, with kite and helmet mounted cameras and underwater while diving. ... more >

I just came across a good weather reference site with emphasis on South Africa. It deals with weather planning and analysis for hang gliding and paragliding but destinct parallels exist with kiteboarding. It contains a lot of useful weather prediction site links, diagrams and related useful information. It is worth... more >

Hello Jeff,Have you taken kiteboarding instruction yet? There are some schools that I could direct you to in the Miami area that should be able to help in this regard. As you are probably aware, Miami has more actual bans and threatened kiteboarding bans than virtually any other location in the eastern USA. It is... more >

This subject came up on kiteforum.com recently. I did a little digging and noticed that the risk factors for UV related problems may be on the increase particularly in the higher latitudes in the Southern Hemisphere. Wearing reasonable eye protection while riding only makes good sense. More about this appears... more >

You are welcome, thanks for the article! This is one of the few times I tried this approach, it needs work. BTW, I had to land on this section of beach for a variety of reasons. I figured I would have light wind issues near the beach from a 30 story building even though it was about 1/2 mile away hence the bailout... more >

I very much regret passing along news of a kiteboarding fatality. A 47 YO man was killed today, the father of 2 young kiters, aged 7 and 13. It was at a spot just north of Safety Bay in Western Australia.Wind was gusty and out of the northwest. Details are sketchy regarding his leash and safety system at this time.... more >

It may be a while longer before more details and analysis come in regarding the severe accident at Calshot, England. As Paul pointed out in his post*, wearing a good helmet could have helped in Alasdair's accident. As others have said, an impact vest can also help when things go wrong. There is no assurance that... more >

Just got back from Paul Menta's, Kite House operation in La Parguera, Puerto Rico. Lots of good, consistent wind in this easily accessible spot but more about that later. Paul had a couple of Cabrinha RECON kites that he allowed me to checkout. Some early impressions and PHOTOS of relaunching and emergency... more >

What part of the Bahamas are you in? I have heard stories about some isolated kiteboarders on some of the islands in the Bahamas. more >
